Lane Public Library Lending Rules

ELIGIBILITY FOR LIBRARY CARDS - People who live, work, or attend school in Butler County or surrounding counties (Preble, Warren and Hamilton) are eligible for a Lane Public Library card. College Corner, Indiana, residents are also eligible for a library card under a reciprocal library user agreement approved by the Board of Trustees in 1980.

Under the LOAN (Libraries of Ohio Access Network) PROGRAM, Ohio citizens not living within the Lane Public Library service area are also eligible for a library card to check out print materials (not audiovisual items).

The person applying for the library card must be present.

The age for a child's first library card is left to the descretion of the parent/guardian.

Anyone 18 years of age or over is required to present identification with name, proof of current address and social security number (i.e., driver's license OR Social Security and item with current address).

A parent's/guardian's signature is required for anyone under the age of 18.

QUANTITY OF MATERIALS
There is no limit on the quantity of library materials that may be checked out at any one time by any library user. There are two exceptions to this rule:

  1. Demand items may have a limited number per patron. (Examples of demand items include holiday materials at the descretion of the head of each library location.)
  2. Only two (2) video games may be checked out at any time on any library card.

LOAN PERIOD

  • The loan period for all items except DVDs is 28 days. The loan period for DVDs is 14 days. Items may be checked out or returned at any Lane Public Library location, the Bookmobile, or returned to the book drop at the Hamilton-Richmond Road Kroger.
  • Any item (except inter-library loans) may be renewed up to five times unless that item is on hold for another patron. Items may be renewed in person, by phone, online or by TeleCirc (513-894-8702). For instructions, please refer to the Lane Public Library's brochure for renewal options.
  • Items may not be checked out or renewed if you owe fines and/or fees over $5.00
  • There is a 2 item limit for video games.

EQUIPMENT LIABILITY Lane Public Library does not assume responsibility for damage to video, audio or computer equipment through the use of library materials.
