Gifts

The Board of Trustees recognizes its obligation to encourage gifts to Lane Public Library. Memorial gifts, including trust funds, bequests, insurance policies and annuities, present the opportunity to carry on the life interest of an individual or group through the library. Every gift, large or small, is a help in giving better library service to the community. Each donation is sincerely appreciated.

Individuals considering any gift or bequest are urged to consult with the Director in order to make the donation of the greatest possible use both for the present and the future. The Board of Trustees must approve gifts of money or materials conditionally made before being accepted.

Memorial Donations - All monetary gifts are to be forwarded to the Business Office. When the library receives money for the purchase of library materials, the head of the department/branch for which the materials are designated makes the selection. Subject interest are taken into consideration if the donor so specifies. A bookplate is placed in the book or on the material's cover bearing the name of the donor and/or the person in whose memory the gift is being made. The name and address of the donor plus the name of the person being honored shall be given to the Business Office, who will acknowledge the gift.

The Board of Trustees has determined that a memorial plaque may be displayed in the library for gifts of $1000.00 or more, if the donor so requests. The size and location of the plaque is to be determined by the library.

Donations of materials and their acceptance are included in the Collection Development Policy, a separate document available at each location.
