Procedures for Lane Public Library Staff
If someone walks into the Library and you notice that they have a weapon, follow these guidelines:
- Politely notify the person of the posted sign and the prohibition of carrying a weapon on the premises.
- Do not argue with the person over the law – just inform the person of the library’s policy.
- If the person refuses to leave or causes you to feel threatened, if your supervisor is on duty, notify them and they will call “911”. If he/she is not there, call “911” and immediately let the supervisor on duty know about your call. Please complete and submit an “incident/accident form” with the pertinent information.
